Vestiges of Attention
Sunlight slanted across the unearthed mask, illuminating fine cracks that traced patterns around its single eye socket. Beneath layers of settled dust, flecks of pigment hinted at repeated handling and use beyond mere display; it hadn’t simply been lost but deliberately placed back into the earth. This return appeared to be part of a longer sequence—offerings layered upon reclamation—and subtle distortions in the clay marked each intervention. The form itself seemed sustained by this ongoing exchange, evidence accumulating with every cycle of outward calibration and reshaping, leaving visible traces on its surface.
