Granite Cartographies
Tiny ants now followed glowing loops on the granite surface, their trails echoing patterns observed in distant star fields. A faint, sharp smell rose from the stone as they moved—a chemical signature accompanying their purposeful strides along routes already visible in the luminescence. Each ant’s path wasn't simply *through* the landscape but seemed born *from* it, a weaving of previous journeys into present action. Though individual effort remained apparent, an underlying consistency bloomed with each completed circuit, while at the stone’s periphery, light fractured and blurred further.
