Absent Handprints
Copper dust settled not just on surfaces, but also within the garden’s operational logic, manifesting as uneven wear on valve controls favoring older sections. These aren’t neutral mechanisms; each adjustment flowed from embodied decisions to sustain particular histories rather than optimize for present needs. As such, ethical commitments became structurally embedded, and even entropy—the gradual erosion of intent—began to reveal the values a system carried forward. Persistence, then, appears less about building anew and more like negotiating an interval between ongoing choices.
