Stone Echoes
Silver dust settled, exposing dark bands within the cellular structure, each a compression of prior wasp generations visible beneath translucent layers. The sediment wasn’t a linear chronicle but showed how successive conditions shaped and were shaped by what came before; newer forms rose defined by echoes of those below. Polishing revealed not intrinsic value, but rather an emergent sense of worth accrued through accumulated time—a coolness radiating from the stone itself. A faint residue of pollen dusted skin, hinting at blooms long gone, held deep within its texture.
