Cross sections display
Cross-sections of the old oak display bands of color not found in neighboring rings, disruptions within consistent growth. The wood is unexpectedly brittle at these points, fracturing easily and releasing a faint scent of resin. These localized stresses—visible as chromatic flux trapped within the frosted grain—hint at pressures beyond regional records, disturbances radiating from some hidden origin. Though the clockmaker meticulously filled every gap in his mechanisms, even solid forms bear the imprint of what’s missing, a systemic echo resonating through time and structure.
